Work Experience
Structured to give insight and
opportunities for learning, trainees undergo a number of ‘real’ job
experiences in host NHS organisations and a ‘flexible’ work placement.
Throughout, you’ll have opportunity to develop and demonstrate a range
of both specialism and personal competencies, and to meet their
work-based objectives supported by placement managers and programme managers.
Work Placements and Competencies
Through
work placements designed, co-ordinated and delivered by placement managers and programme managers, you can expect to achieve and
demonstrate significant development, as well as specialism and personal
competencies. Graduate Scheme staff and the local steering group
provide quality assurance.
We have recently reviewed
competencies for each of the four specialisms in consultation with senior
managers in the NHS and Department of Health, and professional bodies
such as CIMA, CIPFA, Monitor and CIPD, so ensuring they’re relevant for
future chief executives and executive directors.
Flexi-Placement
Your two month ‘flexi-placement’ will relate to your chosen specialism and is
an opportunity to experience innovation and improvement agendas in
alternative organisations: building relationships; widening your
horizons; providing new experiences; developing skills and awareness, whilst still developing
specialism competencies.
