The biggest changes in the next few years are that we will build on our commitment to giving patients far more choices so that they can remain more in control of their own lives and help them to choose how, when and where they receive treatment.

This will continue to be backed up by new financial incentives and the introduction of new providers, whether they be NHS Foundation Trusts or independent and voluntary organisations.

Quality will be independently assessed against a new framework of standards. We have tremendous ambitions and formidable challenges!

There are many excellent leaders and managers in the NHS – from all professions, clinical and non-clinical.
