Building a reputation of excellence.
“The
Breaking Through conference continues to inspire Black and Minority
Ethnic NHS staff to strive to achieve their full potential. However
there are still too few BME staff operating at the very highest levels
in the NHS which is totally unacceptable. Today's NHS has a
responsibility to fully reflect the population it serves. I am fully
committed to ensuring there are people from diverse backgrounds at all
levels of the service but particularly in more senior positions where
representation is poor.”

Henley Report Executive Summary – independent research into success of the programme
"The
findings of the evaluation are extremely positive. This has been a very
worthwhile programme and participants have gained a great deal. They
have been given the confidence and the skills to progress in their
careers, to find appropriate development, to seek out opportunities,
and to understand what is needed in order to gain more senior posts in
the NHS. They have benefited from an overall package of confidence
gained, understanding of self and understanding of the NHS, and as a
result of the programme feel more able to go out and ask for
opportunities, and feel that they deserve them, and are capable of
benefiting from them."
